WHY TEA?
Drank world over, tea is the second most popular drink after water.
Although originating from East Asia, the modern day ceremony and pomp of afternoon tea was inspired by the English.
According to the Historic UK,
afternoon tea was introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840.
The Duchess would become hungry around four o’clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o’clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. The Duchess asked that a tray of tea, cake, bread and butter be brought to her room during the late afternoon.
This became a habit of hers and she began inviting friends to join her.
This pause for tea became a fashionable social event.
During the 1880’s upper-class and society women would change into long gowns, gloves and hats for their afternoon tea which was usually served in the drawing room between four and five o’clock."
Now imagine the splendor of the afternoon, the chatter, laughter, gossip even, but the bottom line being togetherness and connectedness.
What is in a cup of tea is not just a delectable, warm liquid, it is camaraderie, it is love, connection, reassurance, joy!
And most importantly - HOPE!

Flame Lily is a full service event planning company which is a product of love, family and community.
I started by planning events for my family and my community. Started with small events like my sister's wedding luncheon, baby showers, bridal showers and before I knew it I was doing themed milestone parties and weddings.
I started in this industry based on my love for those around me and creating magical moments for all. It is this same love that spurred me towards serving our seniors.
